India is thriving in our new “Multipolar World”

India is loving this “new” multipolar world – after all, it has always taken that world view.

In the last few days, India managed to host the New Delhi summit of the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India and China).

India thrives in uncertainty and diversity. It is simultaneously a member of the G20 and BRICS, a regular G7 invitee, a major Indo-Pacific partner of the West and a country with close relationships with Russia, Iran, China, Israel, the Gulf, Palestine, North and South Korea, and countries from Ethiopia to Brazil.

In New Delhi for BRICs were Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng, UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, while Saudi Arabia and Brazil are represented by Foreign Ministers Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Mauro Vieirais.

Not forgetting that India is also a leading member of the QUAD – USA, Japan, Australia and India.

Balancing diverse interests is what it does so well.

Indian Prime Minister Modi master minded several “informal meetings” that could reduce tensions in current conflicts.

That’s the kind of thing you can do when your economy is growing at over 7.5% and you have one of the world’s largest militaries.

Modern India is now a major pole of power in this multipolar world.
