What are the next growth areas for the Indian economy?

Indian Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman

India’s next phase of growth is expected to create opportunities in high-value activities such as AI, engineering, analytics, product development, semiconductors and electronics, with Global Capability Centres increasingly developing into global innovation hubs.

Plus the GIFT International Financial Services Centre (GIFT IFSC) in Gujarat is also emerging as an international financial centre connecting global capital with opportunities in India.

Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted opportunities at a roundtable in Chicago organised by the Consulate General of India in association with the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum.

And the general growth indicators remain strong.

The finance minister highlighted India’s large domestic market, sustained economic growth, reform momentum and expanding opportunities for long-term investment.

She noted that India offers global companies a combination of market scale, skilled talent, infrastructure, technological capabilities and a decade of consistent reforms as businesses reassess global supply chains and capital allocation.

The discussions focused on “Manufacture in India, for India and for the world”, with investment opportunities across manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, financial services, infrastructure, food processing, defence and advanced technologies. India’s Digital Public Infrastructure, including Aadhaar, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), DigiLocker, Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and India Stack, was highlighted as a platform operating at population scale.

In other words – opportunities everywhere in India.

Time to get over there?
